How we can help
We run many different projects that you can refer yourself or a client for. Some are seasonal and some run throughout the year. Here are some of the projects we run and how you can access them. You can also find information about becoming a referral agent, referring a client or self referring.
FOOD BANK
We deliver a weekly food parcel across Kinross-shire to a household that is referred for support. Referrals last up to 1 month. Self referrals also last up to one month upon which time we will have introduced you to a relevant referral agent. If you already have a referral agent you cannot also self refer.
ENERGY SUPPORT
We work with our friends at The Heat Project who provide expert advice on energy and can help clear debt, mediate with energy companies or reduce household energy costs. We work with referral agents to make energy payments where necessary.
School uniform
Each year between April-June we organise school uniform parcels. These are delivered in school bags containing new and relived uniform items, plus vouchers.
WINTER PROJECTS
Each Winter we distribute a variety of projects, these include Winter Warmer packs (slow cookers, veg and vouchers) Winter Clothing Vouchers, and Christmas Hampers. These aim to alleviate some tree that can come with additional costs associate with keeping warm.
TUESDAY
TRIPS
Tuesday trips happen throughout all the school holidays and include the cost of travel, tickets and food. Families are collected from each town of village in Kinross-shire and taken away for the day to eg Science Centre, Zoo, parks or beaches. The trips allow families to experience new places and take away some stress over the school holidays.
COUNSELLING SUPPORT
Our counselling support has 18 funded spaces, and are run by a fully trained, professional expert counsellor. She uses persona centred approach and is based at loch Leven Health Centre. Clients are referred through the mental health nurse for these places.
ADVICE
HUB
We fund the local advice hub, which allows advisory and support agencies to come and meet clients face to face. These include Social Security Scotland, local Housing team, PKC Employability team and Mindspace, as well as ourselves and local social prescriber team.
Parents & Tots
The parents and tots group is a referral only group aimed at tacking the isolation and low income that is associated with being a new parent. We cover the cost of food and activities at each session and also run a baby bank for families to mitigate the increasing cost of having a baby.
